Farmers Insurance

In an industry where consistency and relationships matter as much as coverage and claims, Rob Irwin has built something rare: a long-standing insurance practice grounded in mentorship, community trust, and generational impact. As a District Manager with Farmers Insurance in the greater Tulsa area, Irwin has spent nearly four decades shaping not just policies, but people—none more prominently than agent Tyler Gooch.

What began as a chance meeting years ago has evolved into a professional partnership defined by shared values, mutual respect, and a commitment to serving clients at the highest level.

A Career Built to Last

“I wanted to do something I was going to do the rest of my life,” Irwin said. That decision has now carried him through 37 years with Farmers Insurance, including 35 years as a District Manager in Tulsa.

Rather than shifting careers or chasing new industries, Irwin committed early—and stayed. That consistency, he says, is the foundation of his success and the success of the agents he has mentored.

For Irwin, longevity is not just a measure of time—it is a measure of trust earned in a community where reputation matters deeply.

The Success of Others as the Real Reward

When asked what he enjoys most about his work, Irwin doesn’t hesitate.

“Number one is the success of the agents,” he said. “It’s just phenomenal to bring somebody on and have them be successful.”

That philosophy is best illustrated through his relationship with Tyler Gooch, whom he recruited early in Gooch’s career. What began as an interview quickly turned into a career-defining opportunity.

Irwin remembers the conversation clearly: “We were laughing the whole time. I just painted a picture of what it could be—and what he could become.”

Years later, that vision has materialized far beyond expectations.

A Chance Meeting That Became a Career

For Gooch, the story began unexpectedly after college when a family friend encouraged him to meet with Irwin.

“I wasn’t even sure I wanted to move back to Tulsa,” Gooch recalled. “I went into the interview not thinking much of it.”

But that meeting changed everything. Within an hour, Gooch found himself not just interviewing—but signing paperwork and beginning a career that would shape his professional life.

“I just remember Rob showing me what life could look like in this business,” he said. “Everything we talked about that day has come true—and then some.”

Today, Gooch credits that moment as the foundation of his success and long-term direction.

A Partnership Built on Service and Success

Together, Irwin and Gooch operate within Farmers Insurance, focusing primarily on home, auto, life, and commercial insurance. While they offer a broad range of products, both emphasize flexibility and finding the right fit for each client.

“We don’t like to be limited,” Gooch explained. “We look at the whole picture.”

That philosophy extends to their evolving approach as an “independent Farmers-backed agency,” allowing them to match clients with the best solution available—even when that solution isn’t immediately within Farmers.

“Our goal is always Farmers first,” Gooch said. “But if it doesn’t make sense at the moment, we can place clients where it does until it does.”

What Sets the Team Apart

In a competitive insurance landscape, both Irwin and Gooch point to one defining strength: relationships.

“In a tight community like Tulsa, relationships and reputation are everything,” Irwin said.

Gooch agreed, emphasizing communication and service—especially during difficult moments. From fire claims to life insurance payouts, he believes the true value of insurance is revealed in times of crisis.

“We’ve helped people rebuild after losing everything,” Gooch said. “We’ve helped families during some of the hardest moments of their lives. That’s what this is really about.”

For Irwin, that kind of impact is what makes the work meaningful.

A Culture of Trust, Community, and Excellence

Beyond client service, both leaders emphasize community involvement. Their agency supports organizations such as the University of Tulsa, March of Dimes, cystic fibrosis initiatives, Philbrook Museum Wine Experience, and other local and regional causes.

“We believe you have to give back,” Irwin said. “That’s part of being in a community like this.”

Their philosophy extends into hiring and team culture as well, focusing on strong relationships, trusted referrals, and shared accountability.

More Than Insurance: A Legacy of People First

Perhaps what stands out most about the Irwin–Gooch partnership is not just business success, but shared perspective. Both men emphasize people over transactions, relationships over revenue, and long-term trust over short-term gain.

At its core, their story is about continuity—how one career decision can lead to decades of mentorship, and how one conversation can shape an entire professional path.

As Gooch put it, “At the end of the day, it’s about the people we meet and the people we help.”

For Rob Irwin and Tyler Gooch, that principle has not only guided their careers—it has defined them.
