Meet Tim Cochran and His Two Sons, Austin and Alex

For Tim Cochran, Father’s Day has never been about ties, golf shirts, or fancy dinners.
It is about family.
The kind of family that shows up for one another. Works together. Laughs together. Gives back together. The kind of family where business conversations happen between golf swings, grandkids run through the office, and relationships matter more than titles.
“How much more blessed can I be to spend every single day with my sons in business and with my grandkids?” asks Tim.
After nearly four decades in real estate, Tim has learned something important: Success means very little if you do not have people to share it with. That perspective shaped not only his career, but the culture behind Cochran & Co. REALTORS®, the rapidly growing brokerage he relaunched alongside his sons, Austin and Alex.
But long before there was a brokerage, there was simply a dad trying to be present.
Tim entered real estate in 1988 at just 26 years old after watching his mother thrive in the business. At the time, he was working a more labor-intensive job but knew he wanted a career centered around people and relationships.
“I wanted to be around people,” he says. “That’s what intrigued me about real estate.”
Three years later, he and his mother launched Cochran and Company REALTORS® together. Eventually, Tim’s wife, Nancy, joined the business as well, making it a true family operation from the beginning.
Now, decades later, the next generation is carrying that legacy forward. “The biggest compliment you could have is your kids follow your path,” Tim says.
That path was built long before Austin and Alex became REALTORS®. Tim coached them through their youth sports for years while balancing the demands of full-time real estate. Whether it was baseball practices, football games, or family dinners, he made it a priority to be involved.
“I’m very blessed to have been a big part of their lives growing up,” he says. “I don’t take that for granted.” Those years left a lasting impression on both sons.
“We spent a lot of time together growing up through sports,” Alex says. “It’s fun now being in a different role and working together.”
Alex, who previously coached football and baseball at Broken Arrow High School while teaching leadership classes, eventually stepped away from education to pursue real estate full-time alongside his brother and father.
“It’s been a huge blessing to work with him,” Alex says of Tim. “He’s a good leader. A good Christian man. He always does the right thing.”
But for Alex, the biggest lesson had little to do with contracts or sales. “The biggest thing I learned from my dad is how to treat people,” he says. “I’ve watched him treat people with love and respect, even when it’s hard.”
Austin’s path looked a little different. He entered the business years earlier and has now spent more than a decade immersed in real estate. “It’s been great,” Austin says. “I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
Ask Tim what makes the partnership work, and he quickly points out how different his sons are. “Opposites attract,” he laughs. “They complement each other.” That balance has become one of the company’s strengths.
Together, the family relaunched Cochran & Co. in August 2025 after Tim spent nearly 14 years serving in leadership with a different brokerage. Originally, the goal was simply to create something meaningful and community focused.
Then the growth exploded. Thirty agents quickly became 40. Then 50. Then 80.
“It was brought to my attention that we are the fastest-growing brokerage in Oklahoma,” Tim says.
Still, he refuses to obsess over numbers. “People gauge success by numbers,” he says. “I’ve never thought about it that way.” Instead, Tim believes the rapid growth comes from the atmosphere they have created. “We consider ourselves a community,” he explains. “Not just a place to hang your license.”
That culture-first mindset is evident the moment people walk through the doors. Relationships matter there. Collaboration matters there. People matter there.
“We’ve made real estate fun and light-hearted,” Alex says. “A lot of that comes from my dad.”
Tim agrees that culture has become the heartbeat of the brokerage. “People know they can approach us and feel welcome,” he says. “That’s important.”
The family atmosphere extends far beyond the office walls. Tim and Nancy, who are approaching 40 years of marriage, treasure time with their four grandchildren: Piper, Noah, Sadie, and Beckham. Their granddaughter, Piper, who has Down Syndrome, has especially transformed the family’s perspective on life and purpose.
“She has changed all of our lives,” Tim says.
The family actively supports Little Light House, a tuition-free educational and therapeutic center serving children with disabilities in Oklahoma. Giving back has become deeply personal for the Cochrans.
“We were put on this earth to give back,” Tim says.
That mindset has also changed the way Tim views success today. Years ago, his fulfillment came from helping buyers and sellers achieve homeownership. Now, his greatest reward comes from helping agents grow and succeed.
“My purpose has changed,” he says. “Now, it’s pouring into agents and helping other people grow.”
Even after 36 years in the business, Tim still believes relationships are the foundation of everything. “Have as many conversations as you can and make as many connections with people as you can,” he says. “Business will take care of itself through relationships.”
And maybe that explains why the Cochran family has built something that feels bigger than real estate. It feels like legacy. Not just a company name passed down from one generation to the next, but a way of treating people, loving family, and building community that continues to grow stronger with time.
For Tim, that is what Father’s Day is really about: Family. Connection. Presence. Legacy. And getting the rare privilege of watching your children become people you are proud to stand beside every single day.
