“I have an enormous heart for people that I get to serve every single day,” says Sabra Jouett, Mortgage Loan Officer with Stride Mortgage.

She’s been in the mortgage industry for 27 years and has made countless dreams come true for her clients. To this dedicated loan officer, it’s all about making an impact on someone’s life.

Why mortgages? Sabra was determined to elevate the industry, especially when she and her husband were taken advantage of while obtaining a home loan, an experience that left a lasting impression. “That was my motivation to get into the industry,” she explains. “I made it my mission so no one would go through what I went through.”

Today, Sabra approaches every client relationship with education at the forefront. “My job is not to make the choice for them,” she says. “It’s to give them education so they can make the best choice.” That’s why she has become a trusted guide, especially for first-time homebuyers navigating the process for the very first time.

Best of all, she loves what she does.

“It is so rewarding, especially when you’re helping first-time homebuyers,” Sabra shares. “When you’re part of giving them the key to their future, that’s what I really love. I don’t even think of it as a job. I think of it as getting to help someone.”

Stride Mortgage, the division within Stride Bank where Sabra works, has been the right home for her values. She describes Stride as a place that supports integrity, service, and people-first lending. It’s an environment where she can focus on doing what’s right for her clients every single time.

Going the Extra Mile

One of the qualities that truly sets Sabra apart is communication. When meeting with REALTOR® partners, she always asks what matters most to them and their clients. The answer is almost always the same. “Without fail, every single time, they say communication,” she says. “That honestly surprises me because that should be the easiest thing to offer.”

Sabra prides herself on being available when it matters most. “If it’s the middle of the weekend and you’re looking at houses and need to make an offer, I need to be available,” she says. “There are a lot of nine-to-fivers out there, but I don’t think I ever stop,” she adds with a laugh.

Some of Sabra’s most meaningful work has been with veterans. One particularly memorable experience involved a first-time homebuyer in his seventies who had never owned a home before. The process came with challenges: language barriers, VA inspection requirements, and obstacles that threatened to derail the closing. When a required driveway repair became the final hurdle, an anonymous donor stepped in to make it possible. “I am so thankful to work with veterans and see their dreams come true,” Sabra says.

Committed to the Community

Sabra is also a Home for Heroes lender, offering reduced or eliminated closing costs to those who serve the community, including veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, teachers, and medical professionals. This mission is near and dear to her heart. She is married to a veteran REALTOR®, comes from a multigenerational military family, and proudly supports her son, who recently returned from overseas service. “I’m a Blue Star Mom as well,” she shares.

Beyond her lending work, Sabra gives back through the Women’s Council of Realtors®, serving on the Give Back Committee and recently being elected Treasurer. Community involvement, she says, is simply part of who she is.

Her advice to clients and partners alike centers on teamwork. “It takes a village to help each client through the process to get to homeownership,” Sabra explains. “It’s important to surround yourself with a team of people who are your teammates and your advocates, not pushy, but supportive.”

Outside of work, Sabra is celebrating 30 years of marriage to her husband David and enjoys time with her three children and five grandchildren. “That’s why I work so hard,” she says. In 2025, she challenged herself to try new things, learning to quilt, paint, craft with her sisters and mother-in-love, and even play mahjong.

She also hosts monthly educational sessions for clients and real estate partners, offered free, because she believes that education is essential in an industry where guidelines are constantly changing.

At the heart of everything Sabra does is one simple hope. “If there’s something I want someone to say,” she says, “it’s that I made an impact on their life.”

Given her dedication, compassion, and commitment to doing what’s right, there’s no doubt she already has, one mortgage at a time.
